Welcome to St. Joseph Catholic School!

St. Joseph Catholic School is a small, close-knit community where each student is valued and supported. With an amazing staff dedicated to fostering both academic and spiritual growth, the school offers a personalized educational experience. Rooted in Catholic values, St. Joseph encourages students to grow in their faith, respect for others, and commitment to service.

Through personalized attention, a strong curriculum, and extracurricular opportunities, St. Joseph Catholic School prepares its students to be leaders in both their communities and the world, all while embracing the love and teachings of Christ.

Our Namesake

St. Joseph, the husband of Mary and earthly father of Jesus, is known for his humility, faith, and devotion. A carpenter by trade, he accepted God’s plan with unwavering trust, protecting Mary and Jesus throughout their lives.

Revered as the patron saint of workers, fathers, and the universal Church, St. Joseph’s legacy reminds us of the importance of faith, love, and quiet strength in fulfilling God’s will.

St. Joseph Catholic School is under the protection of the intercession of St. Joseph, drawing inspiration from his faith and humility to guide students and staff every day.

Our Beliefs

We believe St. Joseph School is both a school, and a community of faith;

We believe those entrusted to us are both students, and children of God;

We believe we are both educators, and ministers of the Gospel;

We believe the values we teach are both character development, and a call to holiness;

We believe our courses of study are both academic pursuits, and a search for truth;

We believe the purpose of education is for personal gain, the development of society, and the transformation of the world.

Meet Your Superintendent

My name is Fr. Paul Fahrbach. I have served as the Pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Galion and Holy Trinity Parish, Bucyrus since July 2016. I also serve as the Superintendent of St. Joseph Catholic School, Galion.

I would encourage parents and guardians to send their children to St. Joseph Catholic School because it allows them to encounter Jesus on a daily basis. Every morning, we gather for prayer. Every Thursday, we gather for the school Mass.  Because we are a Catholic school, we can and do teach your children about the Bible every day. Important biblical teachings such as the Ten Commandments, God’s love for His people, the Good News of the Gospel, the total self-giving love of Jesus who died for us and rose from the dead, the bringing of the Good News to the ends of the earth.

On a regular basis, we teach the wisdom of the ages, the how-to to forgive, and the hope that God provides for every human being. In short, we support parents/guardians as the primary teachers of their children in the ways of the faith.

Meet Your Principal

I am Anissa Tuttle, the principal of St. Joseph Catholic School.  I’ve been Catholic my entire life.  I attended Catholic school from Grades’ 1 through 8.  I earned a Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration from Tiffin University.  I’m married to Ken with two grown children, Alex and Maggie.  I worked in computer software for 16 years and then was a substitute teacher for Preschool through high school for 13 years while raising my children.  I am also the Director of Religious Education for our Parish School of Religion (PSR) and co-teach the PSR 2nd grade religion class.

I’ve been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 2006.  When I became principal of the school in 2022, I felt this new career choice was perfect.  I could serve my church, impact children, lead adults, and leave a lasting impact from my Catholic faith.

Parents/guardians (Catholic, Christian, or undecided) are faced with a decision of how and what they want their children to be taught.  My goal for St. Joseph Catholic School is to provide a different environment for families to send their children for an education.  In today’s world, children face many challenges.  Some of those challenges are better dealt with at certain ages.  Small children should not be subjected to vulgar language, violence, or immoral actions.  These seem obvious; yet many children are faced with and surrounded by such things as if it’s acceptable behavior.  Good morals, God’s Commandments, a loving environment are the things by which children should be surrounded.

At St. Joseph Catholic School children are provided an academic education with a primary focus on our faith building Christian morals, following God’s Commandments, providing a loving environment rooted in Jesus’ love for all people.  No matter who we are, we are all mortal.  We all want to get to Heaven when God calls us.  We all want our children to be successful.  St. Joseph students are taught to succeed academically, strengthen physically, develop socially, and above all, grow spiritually and in God’s good grace.

Here at St. Joseph Catholic School, we are truly “Teaching Saints in Mind, Body, and Soul.”

Connection to St. Joseph:

  • Services were initially held in the home of Joseph Rudinger, a Catholic member of the community. Rudinger donated a lot for the first church site in Galion, OH. The name, St. Joseph, was likely chosen to honor Joseph Rudinger’s contributions.
  • St. Joseph Catholic School is named after St. Joseph, the husband of Mary and the earthly father of Jesus.  The naming of the school honors his role in the Holy Family and as a symbol of family values.  We refer to our school not as a school with students, teachers, parents and guardians, but as a school family.  We are unified to work together as a family.  This reference to our environment as a school family honors St. Joseph as the patron saint of the Holy Family.
  • We have a special Mass on the Feast of St. Joseph attended by the School.

Our Vision and Beliefs:

  • We believe St. Joseph School is both a school, and a community of faith;
  • We believe those entrusted to us are both students, and children of God;
  • We believe we are both educators, and ministers of the Gospel;
  • We believe the values we teach are both character development, and a call to holiness;
  • We believe our courses of study are both academic pursuits, and a search for truth;
  • We believe the purpose of education is for personal gain, the development of society, and the transformation of the world.

Legacy and Impact

At St. Joseph Catholic School, our legacy lives on through the voices of our students. Each year, the graduating 8th grade class writes personal reflections about their time at St. Joseph, offering a glimpse into how their experience here has shaped their faith, character, and academic growth.

These reflections are more than just assignments—they’re heartfelt testaments to the lasting impact of a St. Joseph education:

“St. Joseph made learning fun! Each teacher has their own style of teaching, but they all have the same outcome—you learned something. If you don’t understand it the first time, the teachers are going to help you so you learn it, even if it takes a while!”
Autumn, Class of 2023

“Overall, my experience of this school was superior to what I expect out of your average school. St. Joseph’s successfully taught me about God and about very fundamental Christian beliefs and morals. I’m not telling all who read this that the school is ‘perfect,’ but if you want your kids to have a promising future and ability to express their limitless potential, I don’t know of a better place than St. Joseph Catholic School.”
William, Class of 2023

“And the best thing about this school is it helped me improve my love for God. Going to Mass every Thursday and getting to go to confession helped me become a better person and to deeply cherish my love for God. I now get to go into high school with a firm foundation of faith and know right vs. wrong. I used to not have as strong of a relationship with God; but after going to St. Joe’s, I pray every night, read my Bible, and overall spend more time with God.”
Claire, Class of 2023

“My teachers and the school staff all wanted the best for me. They took time to teach me one-on-one when needed and encouraged me to be a leader by serving others.”
Ben, Class of 2023

“I would strongly recommend this school to anyone, but this isn’t a school to me anymore; the teachers aren’t teachers, and the students aren’t students. St. Joseph’s Catholic School is a home, the teachers and staff are family, and the students are like little brothers and sisters. This school isn’t like any other school—they actually care. They care for every single student. In fact, they just don’t care for us, they love us. I’ll miss this place, and I promise I will come and visit.”
Korbin, Class of 2024

“I can write about every teacher here, but that would take me such a long time. I am thankful for every single teacher, and I can’t forget about the best secretary and the best principal! This school will always be in my heart. I will never forget where I came from. Always in my heart, St. Joseph School.”
Mark, Class of 2024

Year after year, our students’ words remind us why we do what we do. Although there are only excerpts of the full reflections, these students year after year are so appreciative to their families for sending them to St.Joseph Catholic School. Through faith, service, love, and a commitment to excellence, St. Joseph Catholic School leaves a lasting mark on every heart that walks its halls.
